Cheap Las Vegas Jump-start and Battery Services

24 Hour Jump-start Services Las Vegas, Nevada

It’s Monday and as usual I am rushing to get out of the house and running behind. I find my key and hop in my car and head to work. I turn the key and nothing happens.

“Aaaahhhhgggg, why me?” My battery is dead and I need a jump start. Talk about a crappy way to begin the week. The good news is I now know how to jump start my car and I can share those tips with you so you don’t feel stranded. This however won’t be the case if there are no other viable batteries in the area to connect to, in that case your rescuer will be Towing Las Vegas.

  • One of the first things you will want to do is always have jumper cables in your vehicle. This is just good car maintenance. It is not only good for you, it is good for someone else who needs your help.

  • Determine the battery locations in each vehicle. From there park the cars so that the jumper cables can reach. Make sure both cars are tuned off with all accessories off, the cars are in park or neutral (if a standard transmission), and the emergency brakes are engaged.

  • Starting with the dead battery car, clamp the positive (red) the positive battery terminal. These should be clearly labeled on the battery. It is always a good idea to map these things out before you start playing with electrical charges.
              - Be sure that other cable clamps are not                                touching any metal surfaces.

  • Clamp the other positive cable to the positive terminal on the booster car. Next clamp the negative to the booster car and then the negative to the dead car.

  • The next step after you have double checked that everything is hooked properly is to start the booster vehicle and let it idle for a several minutes to boost up the charge in the dead battery car. Now you can start the dead battery car and let it stay connected and idle to make sure it is charged as well.

  • When disconnecting the cable do so in the reverse order that you hooked them up in and all should be good. You will want to make sure you drive the jumped car for twenty minutes or more so the alternator can recharge the battery.

What next?

If you do end up needing to jump start your car you may want to look further into the situation once you have remedied the situation.
  1. Why did the battery die? Did you leave the key on or the some other accessory?
  2. Is that batter at the end of its life? How old is the battery?
  3. Is there any other issues such as the alternator that is causing the battery to drain?

Once you have successfully jump-started your car either by yourself or with your trusted friends at Las Vegas Towing, you may want to have a mechanic check it over to make sure you don’t get stranded again.
